As far as I know, there are often cats coming to our house looking for food or shelter. And I didn't really care, cos I don't really like cat, especially stray cat.
I never interested when my mom complained about pregnant cats that always come looking for place to give birth in our front yard, or when my nieces told story of stray kittens and their names.
It was june 2022, I was finally able to visit my family again. The pandemic was not really over yet, but the restriction had been loosened. Around 1 month before I came, there's a kitten who suddenly showed up in our front yard. My mom had complained about it, and I think my nieces told me also about it. Still, I didn't care. Why would I? There are like thousands stray cats in our village. And I am still confused, by the way, why should we feed these stray cats, meanwhile there is also an overpopulation of rats in our village. It just doesn't add up, when they say the cats are starving. Anyway, I saw the kitten when I arrived. He was small, dirty and ugly. I didn't want to do anything with it. My OCD forbid me.
One day, I was looking for my father. He wasn't in his room, but I heard sound coming from front door. So I went there, and saw my father playing with that kitten. He was tickling the kitten. I was like...why on the earth would he touch that dirty kitten. I decided on that second that I have to do something with it. So, I grabbed that kitten, ignoring my father who still wanted to play with it. And I went inside, looking for my sister. I needed help to bath the kitten. Of course, I needed her help. She has two silly cubcubs, she has more experiences in bathing department.
We bathed the kitten with cold water and dried it halfheartedly and put it in a small cardbox. That kitten had diarrhea instantly, and it was all over the places. My sister insisted that I have to clean it, despite my attempt to appeal. I mean, we can pretend not to see it, therefore it's not there. Right? Right?! So I cleaned it, it's STINK!!!!!
So mission accomplished. My father can play with it again. I felt at ease.
I guess, on that moment when I helped my sister bathing the kitten, the kitten had cast sorcery on me. Cos, eversince, I always wanted to check on him and play with him everyday. So I decided to buy a pet cargo for him to sleep. Cos, we don't let the kitten inside our house. I hadn't given him a name, I always called him "catto", a common nickname for cats, like "doggo" for dogs. He's officially named "Catto", when I needed to register him at the veterinary hospital for vaccination. So, it means, I officialy adopted him as my cat.
And the stressful journey began after that....
Get A Cat They Said, It Will Be Fun They Said. Catto has taken over my bank account and spends my money like there's no tomorrow!!
